In the past weeks, EMERGE has been involved in the distribution of dignity kits to adolescent school girls. This activity took place in ten schools in the Fako and Meme divisions in the South West Region of the country. in each school a total of 500 girls received the kits.
At each school, the EMERGE Team kick-starts the activity with a comprehensive sensitization session focusing on Menstrual Hygiene Management. This crucial step aims to raise awareness among all students, including both boys and girls. The girls receive education on the use of reusable pads, a topic further explored during the MHM club activities.
.
The dignity kits, thoughtfully prepared by the EMERGE Team, contain essentials like undergarments, reusable and sanitary pads, as well as other hygiene tools such as bathing soap. Each student girl received a pack, upon signing. Menstrual wheels were also handed to schools to be used by the MHM Clubs. Their expression of joy and gratitude highlighted the impact of this much-needed initiative.
The overwhelming excitement and joy reflected on the faces of these girls are a testament to the success of this endeavor. Heartfelt thanks were extended to the sponsors, UNWOMEN and Ebase, and the implementing partners, AMEF for the Emerge project, for their invaluable support in making this initiative a reality.
