Empowering Teachers: Talent Development as Part of the Curriculum

In today’s competitive job market, it is crucial for individuals to continuously develop their skills and unlock their full potential. Recognizing this need, AMEF, as part of its Education and Child Protection Program, organized a two-day talent development workshop for teachers at C & J Academy. The workshop aimed to equip educators with the knowledge and insights necessary to foster talent development among their learners (pupils). Facilitated by Mme Eunice Emade of CREMIA, the workshop proved to be a valuable opportunity for professional growth and enhancement.

Workshop Overview

The talent development workshop took place from July 6th to July 7th, 2023, at the AMEF conference hall. With a total of 11 participants, consisting of 9 females and 2 males, the workshop provided a collaborative and engaging environment for knowledge sharing and practical work. The session commenced with an opening prayer, participant introductions, and a warm welcome from the Executive Director, Mme Atim Evenye. Mme Emade Eunice, the facilitator, led the working sessions, which included brainstorming, idea sharing, and practical exercises.

Key Objectives

The primary objectives of the workshop were to train teachers in talent development and enhance their practical skills. Participants delved into various aspects of talent development, including understanding the concept of talent, the importance of incorporating it into the school curriculum, and how teachers can effectively nurture their students’ talents. The sessions provided a platform for insightful discussions, drawing from the facilitator’s expertise and participants’ personal experiences.

Success and Feedback

The talent development workshop was widely regarded as a success, as evidenced by the participants’ expressions of joy and gratitude for the new ideas and knowledge they acquired. The teachers enthusiastically embraced the workshop’s teachings and expressed their readiness to implement what they had learned. Recognizing the significance of providing a supportive and engaging learning environment, expert guidance, and practical activities, the teachers appreciated the organizers for their efforts in facilitating such valuable workshops.

Conclusion

The talent development workshop organized by AMEF proved to be a transformative experience for the teachers of C & J Academy. By empowering educators with the tools and insights needed to unlock their students’ talents, the workshop aimed to prepare learners for the challenges of the future job market. The participants’ positive feedback and their commitment to implementing the acquired knowledge highlight the workshop’s effectiveness in enhancing both teaching skills and personal talents.
