Communication Assistant

Position Details

Job Title: Communication, Marketing and Knowledge Management Assistant.
Department: Programs / Institutional Development
Duty Station: Kumba, South-West Region (with occasional travel to field locations including
Kupe,Manyu, and other divisions)
Contract Type: Full-time
Duration: 12 months (renewable based on performance and funding availability)
Works Closely with the Communication Officer 
Reports to: Executive Director / Program Manager

Position Summary

The Communication, Marketing and Knowledge Management Assistant will lead the development and implementation of AMEF’s communication, branding, marketing, and organizational knowledge management strategies. The position will ensure that AMEF’s work in gender equality, protection of women and girls, peacebuilding, humanitarian assistance, and community empowerment is effectively documented, promoted, and shared with stakeholders, partners, and donors.

The Officer will support institutional visibility, digital engagement, advocacy outreach, and documentation of program impact while strengthening internal learning and knowledge sharing across AMEF projects.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Communication and Branding
  • Develop and implement AMEF’s Communication and Visibility Strategy.
  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all AMEF projects and publications.
  • Promote AMEF’s work in gender equality, peacebuilding, protection, and humanitarian response through targeted communication initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with donor communication and visibility guidelines.
  1. Marketing and Organizational Visibility
  • Develop and implement digital marketing campaigns to increase AMEF’s visibility locally and internationally.
  • Design promotional materials such as brochures, newsletters, flyers, and advocacy posters.
  • Promote AMEF programs and events through online platforms and media engagement.
  • Strengthen AMEF’s institutional profile to support resource mobilization and partnerships.
  1. Digital Media and IT-Based Communication
  • Manage AMEF’s website and social media platforms.
  • Create multimedia content including videos, graphics, podcasts, and infographics.
  • Monitor social media engagement and online visibility metrics.
  • Support online advocacy campaigns and digital community engagement.
  1. Knowledge Management and Organizational Learning
  • Develop systems for documenting best practices, lessons learned, and program achievements.
  • Produce case studies, learning briefs, and impact stories from AMEF projects.
  • Establish a digital knowledge repository for reports, media content, and project documentation.
  • Facilitate internal knowledge-sharing sessions across AMEF teams.
  1. Program Documentation and Reporting Support
  • Work closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation team to translate program data into communication products.
  • Support documentation of project success stories and beneficiary testimonies.
  • Contribute communication content for donor reports, proposals, and publications.
  1. Media and Advocacy Engagement
  • Develop relationships with journalists, media houses, and advocacy networks.
  • Coordinate media coverage for AMEF events, trainings, and campaigns.
  • Support advocacy campaigns promoting women’s leadership, protection, and peacebuilding initiatives.

Required Skills and Competencies

Communication and Marketing

  • Excellent writing, storytelling, and editing skills.
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing and social media strategies.
  • Experience in advocacy communication and campaign design.

IT and Digital Tools

  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Experience with website management systems such as WordPress.
  • Skills in video editing and multimedia content production.
  • Familiarity with digital analytics tools for monitoring online engagement.

Knowledge Management

  • Ability to transform project data into knowledge products and communication materials.
  • Strong skills in documentation, archiving, and information management.

Additional Competencies

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work in humanitarian and conflict-sensitive contexts.
  • Commitment to gender equality, safeguarding, and ethical communication practices.
